  • The fight is pretty similar to Antenora
  • If you defeat the Flower before the other parts, the other parts will wipe your team
  • Best to defeat them in parts
  • Ice, Water, Holy and Dark Element is good for this fight
  • Plant Killer is effective

  • Similar to Ifrit raid, get your Fire resistance gear ready!
  • Fire Resistance as close to 100% as possible
  • When attacked by Ice or Water Elemental damage, Fire Dragon will counter attack with a powerful Fire-based AOE that can kill your team in 1 shot. It will also lower your Fire resistance.
  • When not attacked with Ice/Water Elemental Damage, it will heal itself by 50,000 HP and cast confusion to your team.
  • Def/Spr Break is effective
  • Dragon Killer is effective

Strategy

  • Raise your party’s Fire Resistance above 100% to ignore all fire based damage received when attacking with it’s elemental weakness.
  • This way, you do not need to worry that it will cast confusion on your team or it, healing itself.
  • The only damage you’ll receive from Fire Dragon is it’s Physical attacks which can be mitigated with a Provoke tank.

Recommended Party

4x Fryevia = win

Tank – Cecil

Healer – Refia

Support (only if you do not have enough gear to make more than 100% Fire resistance)
– Minfilia / Marie

Attacker – Fryevia, Firion, Orlandeau, Gilgamesh, Noctis, Lightning, DFina, Lasswell

  1. Random question, if I were to equip Excalibur with a Trident or something else with ice or water… would the fire dragon still counter as if its been hit with holy (aoe confusion + heal)?

  2. with dual wielding it changes your elemental attacks to both elements, so in your case it would be holy/ice property and as such would likely prevent the AoE fire attack

  3. Yun is actually decent for this, immunity to Paralyze and confuse, also starts with like 30% fire resistance and has access to chakra.

  4. Flame Dragon ELT

Level 100 Def 105 SPR 75 Type Dragon

    100% Fire / -50% Ice / -50% Water Resistance

    3750000 HP / 2250 MP

Immune all status except Blind at 85% Resistance

Rest of the other boss mobs are DEF 90 SPR 75 except the Zombie Warrior / Bloody Head which are DEF 75 SPR 75

  5. I was able to defeat the boss using 2 Noctis, Cecil , 2 Exdeath and Y’shtola (with carbuncle for Barfira) 🙂

  6. Took me 1,5 hour! Cleared the elite boss with 6* lvl 63 Minfilia buffing fire res and guarding, 6* Lightning with 510 att casting cura an occasionally doing ice blitz (mostly healing), 6* Cecil with 7k hp guarding constantly, 6* Exdeath with 420 magic dualcasting blizzaga, 6* Gilgamesh 440att with ice elemental weapon doing Snowpetal and Friend Noctis 6* with 570 att casting recover buff for hp/mp, reviving and attacking with warp point and blizzard flask.

BE WARNED! The boss does have some threshold attacks! If you try to nuke him and don’t succeed he can wipe your party.

  7. The key for the elite with 4 party members is: patiance.

My team was: cecil, refia, CoD, & Orlando (friend).
It took me about 45 minutes and depleted all the MP recovery items: hi-ether, mega ether, elixer, chocolate.
Make sure to bring phoenix down, & remedy items to cure confusion & revive the collapse party member.

Last but not least: Maximize all the fire resistance to 50-100% since only 4 of them.
